COLIN RAMSEY, the star of Opera Santa Barbara’s recent The Marriage of Figaro is Julius Caesar. Soprano ANASTASIA MALLIARAS makes her company debut as Cleopatra. JOSH SHAW of Pacific Opera Project stages his first drama at OSB, and EMILY SENTURIA who led our Semele in 2022 returns to conduct.

By popular demand we return to the opulent world of baroque opera with a two-hour adaptation of Handel’s 4-plus-hour blockbuster Giulio Cesare. Based on on historical events that took place after the Roman Civil War and the conquest of Egypt, the opera puts one of antiquity’s most famous power couples front and center. The sequence of arias and duets in our new adaptation could be dubbed ‘Handel’s Greatest Hits.’
